Out in Left Field

After I botched an oil painting I grabbed a baseball for a distraction from the customary rage and despair.

I’ve been trying to work out my preferred drawing materials. This is on Arches hot pressed paper toned with ink, with some charcoal rubbed in afterwards. I used chalk and pencil and eventually a dab of acrylic white when I realized I couldn’t get the value high enough for the highlight.

I think I like how it turned out enough to try it in oil, with a little daffodil added peeking over the hill maybe and some grass effects.

This looks great Jacob! I also really dig the acrylic accent for a highlight. Bravo~~~
