# LOD Exercises In Graphite

Here is a gradation pattern from the Language of Drawing program done in graphite by one of my apprentices. Just because the medium has changed, doesn’t mean the technical aspects/dynamics change. We still employ pressure control throughout the drawing process. The only significant change is that a kneaded eraser now takes on the role of a white pastel pencil. The kneaded eraser is used to lighten values, smooth transition, and soften edges
