Portrait Society of America's inaugural The Future Generation competition

There is only one more week left to enter the Portrait Society of America’s inaugural The Future Generation competition. This competition was created to acknowledge the work of talented, emerging artists, who are 18 to 25 years old. We invite you to enter or share this competition.

The top three winners will receive cash and prizes as well as worldwide recognition in International Artist magazine, The Art of the Portrait quarterly journal, and on the Portrait Society’s website and social media platforms. First Place will receive the Edward Jonas Memorial Medal presented during The Art of the Portrait conference, happening virtually May 6-9, 2021.

Announcement of Winners: March 2, 2021

Entry Fee: $25 for up to three entries

Top Three Awards: ​

  • First Place - $1200 cash award, Edward Jonas Memorial Medal, and complimentary tuition to The Art of the Portrait conference
  • Second Place - $800 cash award and a John Singer Sargent replica palette
  • Third Place - $400 cash award and and a one-year Portrait Society membership

The Edward Jonas Memorial Medal honors the Portrait Society’s late chairman, Edward Jonas. Ed was completely dedicated to the premise that the Portrait Society was founded on, which is to build a bridge between artists for the purpose of passing on knowledge.
