Allied Artists of America

Allied Artists of America, Inc. is a non-profit National Art Society composed of artists, sculptors, elected active members and sustaining associate members from across the country.

From their website, “Our Goals: From 1914 to the present, The Allied Artists of America, Inc. will continue to achieve its goal of furthering the cause of contemporary American artists through its Annual National Open Exhibition in New York City (open to all members and non-members), demonstrations, lectures, awards at the Annual, slide program, and a newsletter.”

There are two levels of membership: “Associate Membership” and “Elected Membership.”

American Artists Professional League

A nonprofit organization promoting traditional Realism in American fine art.

The AAPL is dedicated to the advancement of traditional realism in American fine art, through the promotion of high standards of beauty, integrity, and craftsmanship in painting, sculpture, and the graphic arts.

From their website: “Our members specialize in the wide spectrum of contemporary and traditional realists art. The AAPL represents artists residing and working across the United States and territories. We foster creativity, value skill, and encourage excellence.”

Membership: There are six levels of membership. “Application are reviewed and voted on by the entire AAPL board of directors on a rolling basis.”

Artists for Conservation

The world’s leading artist group supporting the environment.

Artists for Conservation collectively work to promote our artwork, participate in member-only initiatives, publications, and art shows. Doing this while promoting the conservation of our natural heritage.

From their website, "If you are a highly skilled artist who depicts nature AND are dedicated to the conservation cause, we encourage you to apply to join us. AFC is a non-profit invitational group of nature and wildlife artists from around the world.

International Guild of Realism

For the Advancement of Realism in Fine Art

From their website: "The International Guild of Realism’s primary mission is to advance realism in fine art through museum exhibitions, art gallery shows, workshops, and education programs conduced by our members, marketing support, and internet exposure…[their four goals] recognize the best realists working today.

Membership: There is an application and submission process to be considered for membership. “Artists must demonstrate a high level of technique and style within the realm of realism to be considered…We’re looking for those artists whose painting style embodies the best qualities of realism.”

Portrait Society of America

Dedicated to promoting fine art portraiture and figurative works through publications and programs.

From their website: “The purpose of the Portrait Society is to foster and enhance an understanding of the practice, techniques, and applications of traditional fine art portraiture and figurative works. The activities undertaken by the corporation are educational in nature. Our projects will increase the aesthetic and technical knowledge for the practicing artist, the aspiring amateur, student artists as well as the general public.”

Membership: There are eight levels of membership including a “General,” “Student,” and “International.”

Salmagundi Club

The Salmagundi Club is one of the oldest art oldest art organizations in the United States and New York’s oldest art club.

“Salmagundi [pronounced: sal~muh~guhn~dee] is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 1871, by artists and patrons, to support one another and to encourage the advancement of art of all kinds…Become a member or support our mission to promote representational art and artists.”

From their website: “Membership in Salmagundi Club opens the door to an exhilarating world of art: colorful gallery exhibitions, painting demonstrations by nationally recognized artists, classes in drawing and painting, and a host of social activities.”

Membership: Their website explains various membership options that are available, including “Resident Artist,” “Non-Resident Artist,” “Junior Artist,” and “Scholarship Artist.”
