3 Common Shading Mistakes

Included is a very interesting chart to fill in which shows us the degree of light falloff as an illuminated plane turns away from the light. I got it totally wrong! lol

One of my favorite graphics of his is in regards to light falloff. Many of us intuitively feel that such falloff is linear but it in fact nonlinear. There are different ways of calculating this, but Johann Heinrich Lambert’s Cosine Emission Law is a popular method and a good approximation. (note: this is where we get the term “Lambertian” (aka diffuse))
