Congratulations to Julie Beck! Her painting A Vessel with Two Hands (36x24", Oil on Panel) got a 1st place award in the 2022 Biennial Fine Art Competition Show: Realism 2022 Wethersfield.
What is Realism? The paintings, drawings, and one sculpture of 30 artists will reveal what Realism in art is today. As chosen by Peter Trippi, Fine Art Connoisseur magazine senior editor, these 39 works of art reveal the true efforts of study. The show is open until November 13th in the Watson Gallery at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center at 200 Main St., Wethersfield

Do not miss Julie’s upcoming workshop: Out of The Tube and Into My Heart: A Paint Exploration.
“Oil painting can be challenging, but one of the best ways to gain confidence and knowledge is to explore your palette. In this class, we will discuss color theory, and we will explore our paints’ personality traits by creating a “library” of your tubed paints that you can take home and use for reference while painting. Learn how the colors you choose out of the tube can limit or expand what you can do on the canvas and different ways of using the paint to maximize your gamut.” Julie Beck

Check out this fun Intro to Photoshop and photo manipulation for artists. Julie goes over some basic steps she often uses for creating image references for her paintings and prepping images for competitions and magazines.
