Hi all–Here are a few WIP images that I shared on social media during the creation of “Fiver.”
what an amazing amount of fine texture packed into such small shapes. incredible to see.
Phenomenal work! Is this sold already? Or in a gallery for viewing? Curious about the magnifying glass and holder - is that an engraver’s/printmaker’s mechanism or did you construct it yourself?
Thanks for the post - very inspiring!
Thanks Martin!
Greetings Chris—Thank you for your kind words as well! Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) this little bad boy sold right off of the easel.
The magnification device shown here is an Adjustable Helping Hand With Magnifying Glass | Dual Alligator Clips. These devices are often used for solder work on components, small electronics and appliances.
On zooming in it appears to have some scribe work on the solid light background too. Or is that just part of the texture of how the surface took the “dirtying up” glaze? Unbelievable work!
Great eye Diane! Yes–I do sketch out little textures with the stylus in addition to the scumbling and glazes. It really sells the texture in person. Here is an “extreme” closeup. LOL!
Thanks Anthony for the explanation and close up photo. Wow there is a lot going on to capture the realistic look. There’s very little room for error to make it look so real. It’s amazing!
Brilliant work as always, great job.
Amazing work and fascinating too
Amazing work!!
