Holiday Alla Prima Challenge! Anthony is organizing a seasonal reunion for all of you challenge takers, so we hope you can join us for more anxiety-driven, panicked mayhem. The event will kick off on Wednesday, December 13th, at 2 pm EST.
For more information, please follow the LINK.

This week, Anthony mentioned a few concepts that are included in his paper “What Does Realistic Look Like?” You can read the full paper HERE.

We also spoke about the practice of artists visiting certain subjects time and again. Elizaveta mentioned Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is a series of landscape prints by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai (1760–1849). The series depicts Mount Fuji from different locations and in various seasons and weather conditions

On this front, Deborah Kommalan mentioned that she once did a project that was “Van Gogh meets Hokusai”. Check it out below!!!

Regarding aesthetics, Anthony mentioned the project by Komar & Melamid - “Most Wanted Paintings.” They are fascinatingly bad. LOL! See them here: THEORY OF LITERATURE.

Last week, Anthony asked the group to send in a “Pivotal painting” from their career. These would be paintings that impacted your career in a way that differentiated it from all of your others. Please see the paintings that were submitted below.

The online Alla Prima Challenge sessions for 2024 start this January 18th.
For those looking to connect, hang out, and delve into some artsy “talk shop” with a bunch of hard-working artists, then consider registering for our bi-monthly Sunday morning Zoom round table.
