Just wanted to share info on this great stool I got recently. After hours of standing at the easel, my legs were getting pretty painful, and my back was a little sore too. I decided to get a drafting stool I could sit on, but remain at the same height I would be for standing based on the design of my easel. There are some older recommendations here at Smartermarx, but the stools recommended are no longer available.
We do a lot of sitting at work and we use the Herman Miller Aeron chair, which is hands down the best chair I’ve ever experienced. It’s pretty much considered the best of all time for ergonomics. It comes in a drafting stool height as well, but it’s pretty much on the unaffordable side of the budget. I also had to find something without armrests to get in the way of drawing/painting. I took a chance on this: Boss B16240-BK Caressoft Black Vinyl Medical / Drafting Stool and I’ll have to say it’s perfect! Very comfortable, extremely well built and sturdy, more than tall enough, and only around $100. I’ve spent hours and hours using it and no more pain/fatigue that I had from standing all day! I got mine from the webstaurant.com store, but it’s available at several vendors so shop around. I tend to avoid amazon since they seem to sell a lot of seconds or returns, but they do sell it too.

(They also make a chair-height version if you need to sit lower at your easel).
