My wife was willing to sit about an hour and a half for me to paint her. I feel I have some big steps to make looking at the works of others on this website.
The resemblance is not quiet there, there is some skewness in her face, the colours are not really to my satisfaction. But it has been good practice and fun.

Looks good to me Bert. Proportions look right. Can’t speak for likeness as don’t know your wife 
I did one of Patrick Stewart yesterday where there is a likeness but not spot on (looks like a twin, very similar but not quite him) . But few tweaks here and there and the likenesses home in. I’m sure you’ll get it how you want it.
