Research Finds Dressmakers Have Good Eyes, And Not Just For Style

Although this article is about dressmaking skills, I think it could apply equally to photorealist painters.
At Dorfman Museum Figures where I work, we work closely with Julia and her endeavors. Personally, I have been a maker of regulation highland kilts for 45 years as well as a teacher of English Smocking and French Handsewing. These are very highly detailed tailoring skills. Although they have dovetailed closely with my painting skills, I didn’t realize I could have or it would make a difference in visual acuity. (It’s just the comprehension that lags!). LOL
