Materials Papers at Academia.edu

Not sure if anyone here is a member of https://www.academia.edu/ but there are some great papers available to read on many of the material issues applicable to the creative efforts discussed here. Specially, there are a good number of papers by Lukasz Bratasz. Prof. Bratasz (Polish Academy of Sciences, Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Head of the Sustainable Conservation Lab (IPCH) at Yale) was recognized in 2018 for his work with the Yale Peabody Museum on a comprehensive risk assessment of their collections to assess which environmental factors have the biggest impact on preservation. The findings allowed the Museum to change their strategy of climate control, giving priority to maintaining low temperature in rooms housing collections made of organic materials and relaxing the range of allowable relative humidity parameters.

One of the papers I just finished reading was “Fatigue Damage of the Gesso Layer in Panel Paintings Subjected to Changing Climate Conditions.” By Bratasz and Lukomski. If you can navigate these types of paper productively—it’s a very interesting read.
