I started a 10x8 on aluminum. It was started on white and this is a block in start layer. I always workout the drawing by using structural planes. A palette knife a old mongoose Rosemary flats to get a scratchy texture on background. 2 days in and hope to finish by Wednesday to submit to Abend holiday show. The refernce is attached and background is inaginative from old music sheets.
